Goltiao said he got to know about the warrant from the media and from other people. “But I have not (received) a copy of it since,” Goltiao told station DXND.
The Commission on Elections ordered Tuesday Bedol’s arrest and detention after he failed to get a temporary restraining order from the Supreme Court.
“We issued a resolution and on the basis of the resolution the law department issued a warrant of arrest and the commitment order for the arrest and the confinement of Bedol at (Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig),” Commissioner Rene Sarmiento told ABS-CBN News Channel.
He said copies of the warrant of arrest and the commitment order were issued Monday and delivered to ARMM police chief Goltiao for implementation.
But Goltiao said, “there was feedback that a copy had been forwarded to us, but we haven’t received any yet.”
The Comelec in July ordered Bedol detained for six months for four counts of indirect contempt for failing to show up during canvassing and hearing on the alleged cheating in Maguindanao in the May 2007 polls and for allegedly keeping election documents.
Bedol went to the Supreme Court but the latter did not grant his petition for a TRO.(MindaNews)
