DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/06 October) – Want to celebrate the gains of good local governance in the ARMM?
Attend the two-day Governance Symposia 2009 in the cities of Zamboanga and Davao on October 15 to 16 and 19 to 20, respectively. The forum, initiated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DILG-ARMM) and the Local Governance Support Program in ARMM (LGSPA), intends to “bring together national and local governments, civil society organizations, media, international development agencies, and the citizenry to advocate for and celebrate the gains of good local governance in ARMM.”
The forum will tackle the following: Locally-Driven & Locally-Serviced Delivery of Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH): An Option for ARMM; Building a Culture of Performance Management in ARMM through the Local Governance Performance Management System; Sharing of Practices: Innovations in Promoting Successful Conflict Resolution; Strong Barangay and Municipal Local Government Leadership: A Requisite of Ecological Solid Waste Management; Towards Evolving a Responsive Paradigm for Promoting Gender and Development in the ARMM Public Sector; Land Tenure; Strategies in LGU-Facilitated Local Economic Development; Moving Effective Regional and Local Planning Processes in ARMM to Action; Halal Food Industry; The Role of Local School Boards in Defining Local Needs, Targets and Means to Improve Education Performance; The Bangsamoro Socio-Economic Development Agenda: A Contribution to Sustainable Peace and Good Governance; LGU Perspectives on the Peace Process and Muslim Mindanao Act 25 or the ARMM Local Government Code.
