CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (MindaNews/19 November) -- Thank you all for making it possible to launch this modest discourse on the sorry condition of our political culture and the powerless state of our constituency. MARAWI CITY (05 November) --The government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) may not be able to strike a final peace agreement during the remaining days of the Arroyo administration but the parties can restore the ceasefire mechanisms they had set up. MARAWI CITY—“Beyond ceasefie monitoring, you are expanding to a new area of work—a shift or expansion of the current paradigm. It is a right decision. It is time to adopt concrete measures to protect the victims of war.” These were the words of Ret. Gen. Rodolfo Garcia, former chair of the government panel in the negotiations with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) for over 150 Bantay Ceasefire volunteers gathered here for a three-day Assembly that started today. “So this assembly, to chart that direction, is very timely,” Garcia, who was keynote speaker of the Assembly said as he enumerated the many successful engagements he had with the Bantay Ceasefire. |
