DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/08 August) --  Bisaya writers of fiction, you have until August 31 to submit your entries!

The Davao Writers Guild  is calling on writers of fiction or short stories to participate in the “DWG-NCCA (Davao Writers’ Guild- National Commission on the Culture and the Arts) contest in Writing Fiction in Bisaya.”

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/31 August) – “Davao: Reconstructing History from Text and Memory,” written by Dabawenyo Palanca awardee Dr. Macario Tiu won the National Book Award for History, for books published in 2005.

 
Obo Manobo artist is semi-finalist in Petron contest

DAVAO CITY  (MindaNews/31 August) --  Obo-Manobo artist  Retchor “Ettok” Umpan’s “Going to the Fiesta” was named one of seven semi-finalists out of around 350 entries in the painting category of Art Petron, the 6th National Student Art Competition.

 
Gawad Komisyon now accepts entries in Bisaya and Ilocano

To celebrate the National Language Month (August 1-30, 2006), the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWP) is launching Gawad Komisyon 2006.

For the first time, the contest will include a Bisaya (Cebuano) and an Ilocano category for poetry and short story.
