Remembering the indigenous Kaamulan Festival of yore

MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/02 March) – Allow yourself to travel with me as we retrace the footsteps of time when kaamulan was on the home level only and not as “beguiling” as it is now. There is a kaamulan:

When there is a wedding people gather to watch the dalan-dalan; or the groom’s entourage as these people walk in single file with the groom dressed in white shirt with a white turban on his head and he is at the head of the line. He walks under an umbrella held by the prettiest among the groom’s family.

ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/4 March) -- A spectacular one-night show of Taiwanese folk arts infused with sports, martial arts and folk dances wowed locals here Monday night as teenagers from the Keelung Chung Cheng Junior Middle School Folk Sports Troupe of Keelung, Taiwan performed with colorful silk-fabric costumes and traditional props.

DALWANGAN, Malaybalay City (MindaNews/January 5) – Performers of G13's
"Tierra Dulce" and "Beautiful girl" drew an audience during the Araw ng Dalwangan" (Dalwangan Foundation Day) here on New Year's Day, but it was the 'Kagbasukan' of the Bukidnon tribe's Daraghuyan Cultural Group that awed spectators more.

The Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG) is on a cultural mission in the United States that will take it to six States including an islands tour of Hawaii. IPAG performs in over 20 occasions to celebrate the Philippine Centennial on the invitation of the Hawaii Filipino Centennial Celebration Commission. It also performs for related events in the U.S. Mainland.
