JOLO, Sulu (MindaNews/13 September) – Since I started writing these grumblings from Bud Dahu, an American commented on my failure to observe good journalism. It is a shame, after having gone through a western educational system and having read books by American authors that I have not learned to write properly, the American said.  My apologies, I did not study journalism and do not intend to be a journalist. I only want to write our unfolding stories in the heart of Lupah Sug (Sulu) where no journalist or historian can truly capture the shattered hopes and dreams with every roar of cannon and mortar in the air.

JOLO, Sulu (MindaNews/11 August) -- My friends asked me to accompany them to visit possible sites for community projects at the foot of Bud Dahu. My excitement drew me to join their trek in Barangays Buroh, Liu Bud and Lumping, which are all in the municipality of Talipao. Having originated from this town, I know very well that these are the areas where the best durian trees grow naturally as the natural ecosystem of a rainforest.

RUMBLINGS FROM BUD DAHU: Pride and anxiety

JOLO, Sulu (MindaNews/08 August) -- I was walking in the port of Jolo when the majestic sight of Bud Dahu caught my eyes.  I suddenly had mixed emotions of pride and anxiety: pride that our forefathers had fought for our existence and anxiety because our generation has to continue the struggle as the aggressors are still bound to take away the little world that has been left of us.
