KDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/25 October) --  Two volunteer radio announcers survived a slay attempt around 8:45 a.m. Thursday in Digos City.

The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) identified the victims as Marlan Malnegro and Ruben Oliverio, of Radio Ukay-Ukay of the University of Mindanao Broadcasting Network (UMBN) in Digos City.

The NUJP alert said that the two were riding tandem on a motorcycle when two unidentified men also aboard a motorcycle fired on them along Rizal Avenue.

One of the still unidentified men aboard a red Crypton motorcycle drew a gun and fired but missed.  The gunman tried to fire a second time but the gun jammed, the NUJP alert said.

Malnegro and Oliverio had just finished their morning program on Radio Ukay when the attack took place. (MindaNews)
