KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/06 October) -- Gunmen shot dead Monday morning an agent of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Region 11 while he was riding a motorcycle along Notre Dame Avenue in Cotabato City.

Chief Supt. Willie Dangane, Cotabato City police chief, identified the victim as SPO1 Bonifacio Sales Jr, who was based in Davao City. He was shot at about 10 a.m.
In a radio interview, Dangane said the assailants were also aboard a motorcycle and that they shot Sales with M-16 armalite rifles.
A witness told police that one of the gunmen disembarked from his motorcycle, took the caliber .45 pistol from Sales’ waist, and used it in firing more shots at the already fallen victim.
The incident occurred in front of the office of the Mindanao Cross, a local paper.
Sales was reportedly linked to several cases of summary executions of suspected criminals in Cotabato City.
He started his police career in Cotabato City and he later became a member of the CIDG in Region 11.
