According to a press statement issued by the city information office, the 22 students have availed of the City College Scholarship Program.

Norma Sabacajan, head of the CID, said that of the 217 scholars enrolled in the first semester of 2007, 215 further availed of the scholarship in the second semester as only two were dropped out from the scholars’ list for failing to keep up with the minimum grade requirement set by the city government.

Of the 22 graduating scholars, three have consistently made it to dean’s list, Sabacajan said. They are Jhon Ralph Enterina of Barangay Balulang and Ryan Arancon of Barangay Kauswagan, who are both enrolled at Xavier University; and Rosalisa Agar of Barangay Carmen, a student of Cagayan de Oro College.

The scholarship program was started during the term of former Mayor (now vice mayor) Vicente Y. Emano and is being continued by the current mayor, Constantino G. Jaraula.

So far, the scholarship has sponsored the college education of 521 scholars from 62 barangays. A total of 169 scholars have already graduated. (MindaNews)
