The Zamboanga City High School- (ZCHS) Main through the Supreme Student Government in collaboration with Peace Advocates Zamboanga (PAZ) and Youth Solidarity for Peace (YSP) had conducted a session on Peace Education and Governance during the school’s 3-day Leadership Camp themed “Spirit of Leadership” at its Campus, Tetuan, Zamboanga City last January 27-29, 2012.
The school invited Mr. Aldrin B. Abdurahim of PAZ to share a session focused on understanding the culture of peace with integration of governance as a focal theme. The speaker presented a framework on peace, governance and bridging leadership which is aimed at understanding the culture of peace process with emphasis on governance for a sustained leadership among the youth of the school.
Lively activities that foster a strong sensitivity on leadership and the good elements of governance made the session worth interesting. Joshua Arthur Rodriguez, PIO of the SSG and YSP Active volunteer revealed that the success of the leadership camp was the integration of workshops and activities that gave participants the hands-on experience on the promotion of peace.
The speaker emphasized the role of youth leaders in the continuous pursuit of promoting harmonious relationships between and among people. Peace is a gift from God and the fruit of our faith. Peace is about people. The culture that we have should be an inspiration for us to work together and stabilize our situations that promoted violence.
The student leaders experienced workshops on team-building, changing perceptions towards various situations, examining our lenses on how we view and treat conflicts as well as learned the ultimate spirit of leadership.
The YSP’s motivation to inspire the student leaders of ZCHS-Main made the session yield a higher impact on solidarity. Being role models and sharing personals stories of change towards peace and development in Zamboanga City had influence the leaders to be optimistic and move greater heights for peace.
The YSP and PAZ together with the Student leaders of Zamboanga City through the Department of Education- School’s Division of Zamboanga City will further enhance peace education and peace governance in the spirit of solidarity this 2012.
ZCHS-Main will continue to produce outstanding leaders who will be effective peace advocates in the future. The team congratulates the ZCHS-Main through the SSG for the success of the leadership Camp.
