DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/25) – The Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) will conduct eliminations in five key areas in Mindanao this year.
Qualifying tournaments will be held in Cagayan de Oro City, General Santos City, Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Sibugay and this city.
Champion basketball teams from these qualifying leagues will slug it out in the Mindanao finals slated on November 9 to 11.
“The winner in the Mindanao finals will represent the island to the Visayas-Mindanao zonal eliminations on November 14 to 17 in Cebu City,” said PCCL national tournament director Joe Lipa.
The Mindanao champion will be pitted against the best in the Visayas in the zonal eliminations where the top two schools will earn a ticket to the Sweet 16 national finals in Manila.
Last year, Holy Trinity College of General Santos City represented Mindanao in the zonal eliminations.
HTC-General Santos edged out Ateneo de Davao University, Cagayan de Oro College and Southern City College of Zamboanga in the Mindanao finals held in this city. (Rico Biliran/MindaNews)
