DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/25 June) – Three public schools and a day care center will benefit from the forthcoming Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC)-Regional Training School (RTS)-Davao Region Run For A Cause on July 4, 5at the Rizal Park here.
Police Superintendent Eric Dampal, RTS-XI training director, said proceeds of the event will go to the construction of comfort rooms in Imelda Elementary School, Bago Oshiro Elementary School, Carmen Elementary School and New Loom Day Care Center in Tugbok District.
“These primary schools have been our constant partners in the police immersion program of the RTS students,” Dampal told reporters in the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association Forum on Thursday.
Around 2,000 participants are expected to take part in the event which will feature 10-K, 5-K and 3-K for 12-year-olds and under.
The bulk of the participants will be coming from the schools and the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines, Dampal said.
Among the schools that signified interest to field participants are the University of Mindanao, University of the Philippines and University of Southeastern Philippines.
Dampal thanked the schools and private firms led by Marco Polo Hotel Davao for supporting the event by allowing their students and employees to join the race.
Cash prizes await the top three finishers in the event which has a minimal registration fee of P150 for all the categories. (Rico Biliran/MindaNews)
