ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/14 March) – A town councilor was allegedly caught last Saturday in possession of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) at the Zamboanga International Airport.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Director Adzhar Albani said Monday at least .19 grams of shabu was confiscated from the possession of Marvin Aksan.
Aksan, who was arrested by policemen from the Philippine Center for Aviation Security (PCAS), is a councilor of Bongao, the capital town of Tawi-Tawi province.
A folded paper containing two plastic sachets of shabu reportedly fell from the hand of Aksan when he was asked to remove a cigarette pack before he was allowed to pass a walk-through x-ray machine, Albani said.
He said the PCAS personnel also confiscated from Aksan seven pieces of aluminum foil which is used in sniffing shabu.
Aksan denied he owned the prohibited drug saying a pack of cigarette containing two sachets of shabu was placed on a tray where he placed his lighter for inspection at the airport.
Appropriate charges will be filed against the councilor, Albani said. (MindaNews)
