ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanews/05 February) – The city government has recorded an increase of P15.97 million from renewal of business permits this year, from P85.
406 million last year to P101.384 million as of February 2 this year, Mayor Celso Lobregat announced.
Citing records from the City Permits and Licensing Division, Lobregat said applications for renewal of business permits have reached 10,394 compared to the 9,702 applications recorded during the same period last year.
The business permit renewals cover all forms of businesses ranging from sari-sari stores to gas stations, banks, hotels and other investments, Lobregat said.
“Zamboanga City is a service-oriented economy so you have different types of businesses operating in this city,” he added.
Lobregat noted that many of these come from the fishing industry.
He said the increase is an indication of the people’s confidence to invest in Zamboanga City.
The Permits and Licensing Division started accepting applications for business permit renewals for 2012 since October 3 last year.
The deadline for renewal as well as payment of business permits was on January 20, 2012.
A surcharge of 25 percent and two percent additional penalty for every month of delay awaits those who failed to beat the deadline. (MindaNews)
