DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/16 May) — Police rescued three girls from prostitution but the alleged pimp managed to escape during the entrapment operation in Digos City, Davao del Sur yesterday.
Senior Inspector Francis Sonza, provincial commander of the Criminal Intelligence and Detection Group, said that Mely Meneses, the suspected pimp managed to escape after sensing that it was an entrapment operation.
The entrapment operation took place inside Babes Bakeshop on Lapu-lapu Extension.
Sonza said they planned the entrapment after receiving reports that prostitution involving minors is rampant in the place.
Meneses allegedly enticed them to have sex with the three minors for P1000.
Police operatives went to the bakeshop close to midnight yesterday. But after a brief negotiation during which money for the supposed sexual services changed hands Meneses allegedly fled.
The three girls have ages between 15 and 17 years. Two are from Davao del Sur while the other one is from Magpet, Cotabato.
The rescued minors are now under the custody of the Digos Social Welfare and Development Office while charges are being prepared against Meneses. (MindaNews)
