ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/05 June) – Six unidentified gunmen on Monday seized two Chinese iron ore traders in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, a police official disclosed Tuesday.
Chief Supt. Manuel Barcena, Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPO)-West director, identified the victims as Nem Lin Yuankal, 38 and Jian Luo, 43, both from Guandong, China.
Barcena said the victims were taking a rest at their rented home in Barangay F. L. Peña, Kabasalan, when the gunmen, who pretended to be agents of the National Bureau of Investigation, arrived and seized them around 10 p.m.
The police official said the victims were forced to board a white Hi-Ace van with plate number WTE-606.
He said the vehicle, which was burned by the suspects, was recovered near the shore in Sitio Olingan, Barangay Salipyasin, Kabasalan.
He said they received information that the victims have been in and out of the place many times for over a year already. (MindaNews)
