COTABATO CITY (MindaNews/27 June) – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-ARMM) has confiscated high powered firearms, including powerful sniper’s rifles, in a policeman’s house in Maguindanao late on Tuesday.
Senior Supt. Leo Quevedo, regional director of CIDG-ARMM, said the firearms were found in the residence of PO1 Julkifli Gandilan Taraji in Barangay Semba in the municipality of Datu Odin Sinsuat during the 6 p.m. raid.
Armed with a search warrant from the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 13 in Cotabato City, operatives found and confiscated three caliber .50 Barrett sniper’s rifles, one M-60 machine gun, three rounds of rocket-propelled grenades (RPG), one hand grenade and one caliber .45 pistol with ammunitions.
Quevedo said the information they got pointed to Zamboanga City as the source of the firearms, then shipped to this city.
Two other individuals arrested along with Taraji were identified as Sampang Abdurajak and Sahara Abas. (Ferdinandh Cabrera / MindaNews)
