KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/11 January) – Authorities have arrested in Digos City one of the suspects in the 2008 killing of a police officer in Antipas, North Cotabato.
Inspector Felix Fornan, chief of the Antipas municipal police station, identified the suspect as Ricardo Ereola, whom they nabbed in a remote village at around 7 a.m. Thursday.
Fornan said the accused has gone into hiding in Purok Talisay, Barangay Kayagod in Digos City after allegedly killing SPO1 Ronie Badua, who was then assigned in Antipas town.
Ereola, records showed, is among the most wanted persons in North Cotabato.
When Fornan was given information about Ereola’s location, they immediately coordinated with the Digos City Police Office to arrest the suspect.
Ereola was apprehended based on the arrest warrant issued in 2008 by Judge Rogelio Naresma of the Regional Trial Court Branch 23 in Kidapawan City, under Criminal Case Number 01-2008.
On Friday, Fornan and his men turned over to the court the accused for the commitment order.
Ereola was the second most wanted person arrested in North Cotabato since last week.
On Monday, authorities in Carmen town arrested a homicide suspect who went into hiding for seven years. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
