KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/6 February)– Three persons who claimed to be agents of a police unit operating in North Cotabato were arrested for violating the election gun ban at a checkpoint in Pikit, North Cotabato Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Insp. Jordine Maribojo, Pikit police chief, said that charges of gun ban violation would be filed against Cyril Fajardo Abapo, 26, of Sitio Bugoc, Barangay Ma-a, Davao City; Galileo Hinosa Jr., 35, of Barangay Lanao, Kidapawan City; and Danilo Jalwin Licatan, 59, of Poblacion, Kidapawan City.
When asked why they were carrying firearms, Maribojo said the trio claimed to be civilian investigative support agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Team.
But they failed to present gun ban exemption documents to authorities, the police official said.
Elements of the Pikit police led by P03 Lauro Juguan and the Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion recovered from them three .45 caliber pistols, seven magazines and 23 rounds of live ammunition.
Maribojo said the three were on board a red Suzuki motorcycle with license plate YDU 984 and on their way to Davao City when flagged down along the highway.
They came from Pigcawayan, North Cotabato. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
