PNP hiring 263 non-uniformed personnel for R-12

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews/17 January) — The Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 is set to hire 263 additional non-uniformed personnel (NUP) within the next two months as it moves to relieve police officers in the region of various administrative work or functions.

Supt. Romulo Estocapio, PRO-12 public information officer, said Friday they opened earlier this week the recruitment process for the hiring of the civilian personnel, which was based on the quota recently approved by the Philippine National Police (PNP) central office for the region.

He said the area’s quota for NUP was mainly allotted for the hiring of crime registrars for local police stations.

“This will free our uniformed policemen from administrative tasks or duties and eventually allow them to concentrate mainly operational matters,” he said.

Region 12 currently has 50 municipal and city police stations and offices.

The region covers the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, North Cotabato and the cities of General Santos, Koronadal, Tacurong, Kidapawan and Cotabato.

Estocapio said interested and qualified applicants are required to submit two sets of folders containing their application requirements, which should include duly authenticated documents and with corresponding receipt of payments.

The application requirements are: letter of application; duly accomplished personal data sheet (Civil Service Commission form 212–Revised 2005); transcript of record and diploma; certificate of civil service eligibility; certificate of trainings; certificate of employment, if any; National Bureau of Investigation clearance; National Statistics Office (NSO)-authenticated birth certificate; and NSO-authenticated marriage certificate, if applicable.

The official said applicants who would pass the initial screening will then undergo various examinations, among them neuro psychiatric, medical and drug test, at duly accredited government hospitals or diagnostic centers.

He said the examination results will only be recognized by the screening and selection committee upon proper validation by PRO-12’s regional health services.

The PNP announced earlier this month an additional 7,439 hiring quota for NUP of various police regional offices in the country.

The hiring which started last year, is part of the PNP’s efforts to replace uniformed officers who are doing administrative jobs in different police stations and offices with civilian personnel.

Estocapio said the employment of non-uniformed or civilian personnel by the PNP practically opened a new avenue for police and community cooperation.

“With our strong and competitive law enforcers as well as healthy NUP work force, we’re confident that we will eventually achieve our targets and properly perform our mandates, especially in keeping our region safe and secure place to live, visit, work and do business,” he added. (MindaNews)
