GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews/08 February) — Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro will grace the scheduled opening on Monday, February 10, of the five-day Region 12 or Soccsksargen Regional Athletic Association (SRAA) Meet in Koronadal City.
Dr. Allan Farnazo, DepEd Region 12 director, said in a media forum that Luistro has confirmed to attend the opening ceremonies of the regional games as part of his scheduled visit in the region.
The SRAA meet, which will be hosted anew by the provincial government of South Cotabato, is slated on February 10-14 at the South Cotabato Sports Complex.
The Soccsksargen Region covers the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, North Cotabato and the cities of General Santos, Koronadal, Tacurong, Kidapawan and Cotabato.
Farnazo said that aside from being the guest of honor and guest speaker, Luistro will also grace two other major events in the area.
He said the DepEd chief will lead the launching of the Regional Center for Muslim Education located inside the DepEd South Cotabato Division compound in Koronadal City.
“Just like the Centre for Indigenous People (CIPE) established seven years ago that showcases the culture of the IPs, the center will be put up so we can also showcase the Muslim culture,” he said.
Farnazo said Luistro will also attend the first-ever Regional Communication Festival and Research Congress at The Farm Resort in Koronadal City.
The congress will be participated in by teachers, school heads, division and district supervisors and principals in the region, he said.
The congress will be highlighted by contests on impromptu speech, humorous speech, read and retelling for teachers, division supervisors and district supervisors and principals in nine divisions; and, lectures on public speaking, memo writing, business letter writing and other related communication skills.
“This is to hone the capabilities of our teachers and school administrators in communication, being the frontliners in our educational system,” Farnazo added. (MindaNews)
