ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews / 15 March) – Five Indian companies have shown interest to invest in the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority and Freeport (ZamboEcozone).
Christopher Lawrence Arnuco, chairman and administrator of ZamboEcozone, said the proponents were part of the contingent from the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) who attended last week’s ZamboEcozone-sponsored business forum in Makati City.
The prospective Indian investors include the Jobships.com, seafarers services; Ozzy Business Consulting Ltd., agribusiness consultancy; Ivory Education Pvt. Ltd. and International Professional Financial Careers Academy Pvt. Ltd., education; and Huechem Textiles Pvt. Ltd., garments industry.
Heading the FICCI delegation was Kapil Rampal, director of Ivory Education Pvt., and Santosh Nautiyal, deputy director of FICCI.
Arnuco said the road show type business forum was a concerted effort of the ZamboEcozone, local government, and the regional offices of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) and the Board of Investments (BOI).
Arnuco said the forum aspired to showcase Zamboanga Peninsula, particularly this city with the ZamboEcozone in focus.
He said that Regional Director Susan Valerio of NEDA exhibited the economic profile and the statistical data supporting the phenomenal growth of this region during the series of presentations.
Valerio cited that Zamboanga Peninsula was the fastest growing region in the country in 2013 with a 12.4-percent increase in Regional Gross Domestic Product.
