ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/27 June) – Two suspected extortionists, one of them listed as the region’s number nine most wanted person, were killed in a shootout Thursday with police and soldiers in Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte.
Insp. Dahlan Samuddin, Police Regional Office-9 information officer-in-charge, identified the slain suspected extortionists as Jaojin Salam and Abdullah Ermeron.
Samuddin said Salam was listed as the number nine of the top 10 most wanted persons in the region.
The police official said Salam has standing warrants of arrest issued by the court of Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte for murder, frustrated murder, murder with direct assault on an agent of person in authority.
He said the two suspects were killed in a shootout 9:50 a.m. Thursday in Barangay San Juan, Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte.
He said the shootout ensued when Salam and Ermeron opened fire as they were about to be arrested by the combined police and military operatives. (MindaNews)
