ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews / 21 October) – A fire that broke out early Tuesday razed to the ground the two-story semi-concrete municipal hall building of Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte, a military official disclosed.
The fire also razed to the ground a residential house owned by a retired policeman.
Capt. Franco Suelto, information officer of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, disclosed the fire broke out around 12:45 a.m. at the Social Welfare Office at the building’s second floor and rapidly engulfed the edifice.
A policeman assigned in Sirawai town disclosed the other offices that were burned include the police station, Commission on Elections, Bureau of Internal, Revenue, and Municipal Engineer’s Office.
Suelto said also destroyed during the fire was one dump truck, a police vehicle, three motorcycles, a caliber .30 machine gun, eight M-16 rifles, two M-203 grenade launchers, 10 rifle grenades, office equipment and assorted documents.
He said the residential house that was burned down belongs to Benjamin Caragan, a retired policeman.
Suelto added that no one was killed or injured during the fire, which believed to be caused by faulty electrical wiring.
