ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/07 April) – Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers abducted late Monday a town mayor in the nearby province of Zamboanga Sibugay, a police official disclosed.
Abducted around 9:15 p.m. Monday by three gunmen brandishing high-powered firearms was Mayor Gemma Adana of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Senior Supt. Jose Bayani Gucela, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, said Adana was eating together with her family, friends and visitors at her residence in Barangay Taytay Manubo, Naga when the gunmen clad in camouflage uniforms and bonnet masks barged in.
Gucela said the gunmen grabbed Adana and took her to the shore at the back of her residence where she was forced to board a blue motorized banca that sped toward the high seas.
He said policemen in coordination with the Army’s 44th Infantry Battalion were tracking down the whereabouts of the town mayor. (MindaNews)
