MATANOG, Maguindanao (MindaNews/24 August) – A Saudi Arabia-based humanitarian group said over the weekend it is planning to build an orphanage in the province aside from building an office in Manila for its expanded operations in the country.
The orphanage will be built in this town, according to Dr. Mohammad Redwanur Rahman, the country representative of World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) in the Philippines who is also a physician.
The announcement came during the medical camp mission here, which was also scheduled for other towns in Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur.
Hundreds of local residents flocked to the two-day medical mission over the weekend.
They availed of free dental operation, circumcision and checkup prioritizing elders, mothers and babies.
WAMY also gave free medicines to those who underwent checkup.
Among those who came was Tata Campong of Barangay Sapad. She brought her 13-year old son who is suffering from cerebral palsy for free checkup and free medicines.
Ina Latabai, a senior citizen, said she felt glad that after many years she saw a doctor once again for a checkup.
Nurhida Duma, a mother of four, brought her whole family to get whatever services they could.
She said medical missions like it should be held regularly for people like them.
