KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews / 8 Nov) – Authorities intensified their manhunt for the suspects responsible for the killing on Wednesday of the municipal agriculture officer (MAO) of Arakan, North Cotabato.
Killed was 57-year-old Edgar Arana, a resident of Poblacion, Arakan.
Senior Insp. Arjay Celeste, Arakan police chief, said the victim was onboard his motorcycle headed towards Poblacion Proper when the still unidentified gunman, riding at the back of the driver of another motorbike, shot him several times in different parts of his body.
Arana, who sustained gunshot wounds on his chest and head, died on the spot, Celeste said.
He said they have yet to find out the motive and those responsible for the killing.
Arana had served the Arakan municipal government for several years and had no record of being involved in any corruption, personal grudge, or land conflicts, sources from the municipal government. (Malu Cadelina Manar / MindaNews)
