DTI to award seal of excellence to Gensan businesses

Ibrahim Guiamadel, DTI Region 12 director, said the regional certification committee for the DTI-Certified Program would declare the 22 retail stores on May 18 as the addition to the DTI-certified establishments in the region.

"We are giving due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers and practice responsible business to ensure that  consumers indeed get the right value for their money," he said.

Of the 22 awardees, one would receive the Silver Seal of Excellence award while 21 others will be bestowed with the Bronze Seal of Excellence. A bronze award is given to a business establishment which continually comply with the provisions of the trade and industry laws and able to maintain consumer welfare desks or DTI-recognized
customer service counters. A silver award is given if the establishment may take further
steps to institutionalize social responsibility in their operations.

Last year, the DTI awarded the Bronze Seal of Excellence to 15 business establishments.

Guiamadel said the program was part of their monitoring and evaluation of  the operations of all retail establishments such as supermarkets, department stores, appliance centers, hardware stores and DTI-accredited service and repair shops in the region..

The region covers the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Saranganu, Cotabato and the cities of General Santos, Kidapawan,  Cotabato, Koronadal and Tacurong.
