Bukidnon '08 investments reach P5.11B, but down 29% from 2007

DTI’s Famelah D. Villanueva said in P2007, there was a P2-billion investment by a single firm. She declined to reveal the firm.

The report, requested by MindaNews, showed that P4.11 billion or 80.54 percent of the investments came from agri-based industries.

About P155 million were invested in "servicing," P86 million in trading, P48.06 million in infrastructure and services, P2.5 million in consumer manufacturing and a measly P50,000 for forest-based industries.

The report mentioned P707.34 million investments into “others,” which the DTI did not break down into specific sectors.

Villanueva said their figures are based on regular monitoring by sector and at the firm level. It also includes figures submitted by firms annually to the Bureau of Investments (BOI). Also, data from the Bureau of Customs were factored in, she said.

The figures, she said, include data from towns and cities but some investments, especially "small" investments, were not covered in the monitoring.

By quarter, investments in the province were computed as follows: P2.45 billion (first), P468.84 million (second), P1.35 billion (third), and P837.62 million (fourth).

DTI Bukidnon also reported P92.31 million worth of exports from Bukidnon, mainly from the agri-based sectors. (Walter I. Balane / MindaNews)
