Kidapawan LGU conducts tax collection outreach in far-flung villages

KIDAPAWAN CITY [July 29/Thursday] – The tax collectors in the city conducted on Tuesday a tax collection outreach in a village here as part of the city government’s campaign to increase local revenues.

The employees of the City Treasury collected some P6 thousand from at least 30 small convenient stores in Barangay Perez, one of the upland villages in Kidapawan City.

City Mayor Rodolfo Gantuangco said the tax collection outreach was a response to a request made by the officials of Barangay Perez. Many of the store owners in Barangay Perez have difficulty in paying taxes because they have to travel to the Poblacion, which is about an hour away from their village.

At the same time, the City Government was thankful the village officials exerted efforts to increase tax collection even in their locality.

The tax collection outreach would also be done in other far-flung villages to boost the city LGU’s collection campaign.

Meanwhile, the city government has granted tax relief to delinquent real property tax payers. The delinquent taxpayers need not pay the interest or surcharges of the unpaid taxes. Their properties would also be spared from auction sale.

A tax amnesty, according to Gantuangco, will help small and medium-scale real property owners. (Malu Cadelina-Manar/MindaNews)
