m12payhike Caraga workers get P10 wage hike By Alden Pantaleon / MindaNews BUTUAN CITY (MindaNews/12 Aug) — Caraga’s Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) recently approved a new wage hike order which provides for a P10 increase in workers’ basic pay in the region’s four provinces and six cities effective August 25. In a press statement, the RTWPB said that in the agriculture sector, the new basic wage for plantation workers is pegged at P220 daily plus a P13 cost of living allowance. Non-plantation workers, however, would receive P 200 basic wage and P13 COLA. According to the RTWPB, workers/employees for the non-agriculture sector will be receiving P243, which is comprised of P230 for basic pay and P13 for COLA. For retail and services companies employing more or less 10 workers, it said that they would receive P 200 for basic pay plus P13 COLA. The press statement said those who are employing more than 10 workers would have the same rate with the non-agriculture sector. The Wage Order RXIII-10 was approved by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) on August 5. It was published on August 10 and to take effect 15 days from the date of publication The wages board, represented by labor and management sectors, together with three government agencies (National Economic Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Labor and Employment), presented several wage options, proposals and counter proposals before arriving at the said new wage order.
