MALAYBALAY CITY (MindaNews/6 July)– About a hundred business organizations are expected to attend the Department of Trade and Industry’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Caravan featuring presentations on investment opportunities, financing and good manufacturing practices on July 11 to 12.
Organized by DTI-Bukidnon, the caravan will be the second since last year and will end with the organizational meeting of the Kaamulan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., a group
that gathers Bukidnon’s four business chambers, said Fam D. Villanueva, DTI Bukidnon planning and information officer.
About 15 resource speakers from the government and the private sector in Region 10 were slated to conduct briefing, counseling and training sessions on financing and good manufacturing practices, aside from investment opportunities in rubber, bamboo, poultry, coffee and dairy.
Sylvia Aguhob of Xavier University and the Department of Science and Technology will give a session on good manufacturing practices. From the private sector, Anakciano, Inc. will handle a session on “Investment Opportunities in Poultry.”
Five other sessions were scheduled for agriculture including a session on investment opportunities in engineered bamboo (e-bamboo) by entrepreneur Art Azcona, rubber by DTI North Cotabato director Anthony Bravo, banana chips by BG Fruits and Nuts Manufacturing, coffee by Nestle Philippines, and dairy by the Philippine Dairy Authority.
Roderico Bioco of the Malaybalay City Chamber of Commerce and Industry was scheduled to give a presentation on “Role of the Business Community in Shaping Business and Enabling Environment.”
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) will also hold a session on trademarks.
There will also be business presentations from Digitel Mobile Phils. Inc, Bank of the Philippine Islands, and China Banking Corporation, which recently opened a branch in Malaybalay City.
As a side activity to the event, the DTI has also organized a two-day ‘diskwento’ caravan, an opportunity for MSME participants to buy basic commodities at a “very affordable price.” Both caravans will be held in Loiza’s Pavillion, Malaybalay City. (Walter I. Balane/MindaNews)
