Monera Pangabangan owns a five-hectare land in Barangay Amas which she inherited from her parents. Despite this, however, she and her family remain poor.
Two days ago, she received 500 seedlings of rubber from North Cotabato second district Rep. Bernardo Pinol, Jr. under the program, Gobyerno sa Maluntarong Agrikultura-Justice and Freedom from Poverty Movement (GMA-JFPM).
Piñol led the planting of rubber trees in Pangabangan’s lot.
Under the program, Pangabangan and other beneficiaries will be supplied with free agriculture inputs, including fertilizers, for two years.
Pinol is optimistic the program will help uplift the condition of poor farmers in North Cotabato.
Other than rubber, Pinol will distribute seedlings of coconut, banana, and oil palm to thousands of farmers in his district, he said. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
