MALAYBALAY CITY (10 January/MindaNews) — “Give us priority,” provincial officials and the electric power cooperatives asked the National Power Corporation and the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM) during the Buidnon Power Summit, as they asserted that their power demand requirement be met first before the supply from the Pulangui IV hydroelectric power plant is fed to the Mindanao Grid.
Gov. Alex Calingasan convened the summit Thursday to assert the province’s agenda in power supply use following the Department of Energy’s department circular no. DC2010-10-0211 ordering NPC-PSALM to “fully utilize all available capacities of hydroelectric power plants in Mindanao for energy purposes.”
The order also asked the two power generating firms to finalize the bilateral contract allocations to allow distribution utilities and electric cooperatives to determine the quantity or volume of capacity or energy they can buy from PSALM/NPC or from other generating companies.
Bukidnon needs a total forecasted 66.88 megawatts from 2011 to 2015 for the consumers of the First Bukidnon Electric Cooperative (32.23 MW) and Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative (34.65).
But according to the Buseco presentation, based on recent arrangements, Bukidnon will be allocated only 44.6 megawatts. The 22.25 megawatts should be bought from other power generators.
The actual production from Pulangui 4 is estimated to be 97 metgawatts. (Walter I. Balane/MindaNews)
