Board member Nemesio Beltran Jr. sponsored the resolution on March 11. “It has been observed that the project implementation of the said road section is progressing at a snail’s pace to the detriment and inconvenience of the riding public,” he said.
Beltran, chair of the SP’s committee on beautification and tourism, noted that the road section is part of the Mangima Canyon, a tourist destination.
He cited an observation that “there seems to be a lack of equipment on the part of the contractor hence, the reason for the very slow implementation of the rehabilitation project.”
There is an urgent need to call the attention of the contractor, he said, to fast track the completion of the project.
He did not name the contractor but board member Clive Quiño from the First District said it is Oaminal Contstruction, a contractor of the DPWH.
The SP, through a motion by board member Rogelio Lago, called on DPWH to update them on the status of the project.
DPWH regional director Jerome dela Rosa sent a deputy to the SP session but the board sent the deputy home, Vice Gov. Alex Calingasan told the board members at the start of the session.
He said the regional director must appear at the next provincial board session. (Walter I. Balane/MindaNews)
