War’s fire victims will soon have their new houses

Malaysian Maj. Gen. Datuk Mat Yasin bin Mat Daud, Head of Mission of the 60-person, Malaysian led IMT, announced during his courtesy call on officials of Guindulungan, Talayan and Datu Anggal Midtimbang towns that P14 million has been made available.

Captain Carlos Sol,  head of secretariat of the government peace panel’s Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), said the money released is intended to replace the 215 houses that were burned last year in Lapok, Tapikan 1 and 2and Kuloy of Shariff Aguak town and Iginagampong and Bantingaw in Datu Unsay town.

The money came from the National Disaster Coordinating Council, Sol said.

The 54th Engineering Brigade, he said, will implement the project.

Last year’s armed hostilities killed at least two civilians, displaced some 4,000 families and razed to the ground 192 houses, including a ceasefire monitoring post. (Carolyn O. Arguillas/MindaNews)
