Engr. Milo Tabigue, Phivolcs field coordinator, said their office is closely monitoring the volcano following reports on how Luzon and Visayas volcanoes are acting up.
“Mount Apo has remained quiet,” he said.
Tabigue said the escalating activities of some volcanoes in the country were a “coincidence”
He said volcanoes have their own respective characteristics and it is impossible that to they would erupt simultaneously. “No two volcanoes are alike,” he said.
Tabigue added that there are physical indications when a volcano will likely erupt.
The Phivolcs in Southwestern Mindanao is also closely monitoring eight other active volcanoes that have remained quiet for years. These are: Mt. Nakaturing in Lanao; Mt. Ragang in North Cotabato; Mt. Bud Dajo in Jolo, Sulu; Mt. Kalayog in Bukidnon; Mt. Leonard in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley; Mt. Parker and Mt. Matutum in South Cotabato and Mt. Hibok-hibok in Camiguin. (Williamor A.
