PNP?s Calderon to speak during NoCot media summit

He is also expected to report on the operations of the P5-million Press Freedom Fund, which has been established as cash rewards to tipsters and financial aid to families of slain journalists.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has vowed to stop the violence against Filipino journalists and has ordered law enforcement agencies to run after the masterminds and the perpetrators of these attacks.

The two-day media summit is a project of the Publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) in cooperation with PhilNews Services and the provincial government of North Cotabato.

Gov. Emmanuel Piñol is sponsoring the media summit because he said he is “disturbed by the growing fatalities among the ranks of the community press.”

The governor disclosed that aside from discussing journalism issues, there will be an exclusive seminar on strategic communication management and public relation for information officers and public affairs executives to be conducted by veteran public relation practitioners and communicators as main speakers.
