The Mindanao Land Foundation, Inc., (MinLand) one of the organizers of the forum, said these organizations will be given recognition during the forum whose theme is “Championing and celebrating Community Best Practices for Peace and Development.”
The forum will serve as venue for peoples’ organizations to showcase their innovative and successful models of ideas, processes, sound practices, and experiences “that are truly people-driven and people-initiated in pursuing peace, community development, and in addressing human security.”
Organizers of this year’s forum, the Invisible Link, an informal coalition of civil society organizations in Mindanao, said people-driven initiatives “should be recognized so that their accomplishments will help boost peoples’ morale and help eliminate insecurities in pursuing people-led peace and development efforts.”
“This happens especially where the use of available local resources is emphasized since after all, peoples’ organizations are the real prime movers in any community development,” the MinLand said.
Some 100 participants from various non-government organizations, peoples’ organizations, academic institutions, government line agencies, decision makers, private sector, resource agencies, and other key stakeholders are expected to participate in the forum. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
