Supt. Kadil Masahod, Provincial Police Mobile Group director in Sultan Kudarat, identified the victims as Police Officers 1 Salahuddin S. Puti and Saudi Abdul, both assigned in Cotabato City.
Their bodies were dumped in the trunk of the KIA sedan owned by Puti. Supt. Joel Limson, chief of the Tacurong City Police, theorized the victims could have been killed outside the city.
“They were about to be thrown in a secluded area along the Sultan Kudarat highway when the suspects saw elements of Police and Army conducting checkpoint in the area.
So, to avoid being caught, they just abandoned the vehicle few meters away from the checkpoint,” said Limson.
Masahod said they have identified the suspects but refused to divulge their names as this would hamper their manhunt operations.
The police has yet to ascertain the motive of the killing.
Masahod said they have yet to determine if the killings had anything to do with the noon bombing at the public market which injured four. (Malu Cadelina Manar/MindaNews)
