2 wounded in Jolo blast

Lt. Col. Bartolome Bacarro, Armed Forces of the Philippines public information officer, said the improvised explosive device was placed inside a plastic bag and left in a tricycle parked in front of the Peacekeeper’s Inn.

Bacarro said the blast occurred at around 7 p.m. and wounded two persons who were standing nearby.

Peacekeepers Inn is located just a few meters from the gates of the heavily guarded Camp Asturias, headquarters of the Sulu Philippine National Police.

The Philippine military has been conducting operations in Sulu to flush out the Abu Sayyaf. (Froilan Gallardo/MindaNews)
