Cagayan de Oro’s city information office quoted Estrella Sagaral, the city planning and development officer, that she endorsed the CLUP to the executive committee of HLURB in Manila recently.
She is hopeful that with the approval of the CLUP, Cagayan de Oro can lure more investors to bring in investments because of the city’s clear direction of its development thrust, especially with the identification of possible growth areas for investments.
Sagaral said that with the HLURB’s impending approval of the Cagayan de Oro’s CLUP, the “city of golden friendship” will become a globally competitive and investor friendly city where prospective investors will have an easy access to such vital information as the cost of commercial space, presence of required labor, access to medical facilities and services and access to potable water.
Sagaral said the HLURB will also help sell the city to possible investors, especially to realtors and industrialists.
The CLUP is a set of specific goals for the city’s development in the next 10 years as envisioned and crafted by all the sectors in the city. A product of a multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholders consultations, the CLUP envisions to transform Cagayan de Oro into a cosmopolitan capital of Northern Mindanao where business, trade, financial, educational and medical services go hand in hand with the needs of the people.
