A memorandum of agreement on the enrolment of provincial government employees in the CHIP was signed Tuesday between the provincial government, the Cotabato Provincial Hospital and the Cotabato Provincial Government Employees Association (COTGEM) during the launching of the CHIP at the provincial gymnasium at Amas in this city.
The agreement specifies that additional insurance coverage over what is already provided by the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) will be extended to provincial government employees through Plan B of the CHIP. The plan requires an annual membership premium of P1,600 per member. The MOA stipulates that half of this amount will be paid by the provincial government and the other half by the employee.
This will provide the employees additional health insurance coverage of up to P130,000.
Coverage includes expenses for room and board; services of health care professionals; diagnostic, laboratory, and medical examination services; use of surgical or medical equipment and facilities; and prescription drugs.
Piñol has already ordered the setting aside of more than P1 million to be used as the provincial government’s share in the premium contributions of more than 1,600 provincial government employees who will be enrolled under the CHIP’s Plan B package.
Meanwhile, COTGEM officials led by its president, Teotimo Paguican, formally handed over Tuesday to Piñol the award he received for Most Employee-Friendly Employer during the recently conducted Confederation of Independent Unions (CIU) national convention in Cebu City.
Piñol for his part thanked the provincial government employees who attended the CHIP launching program for their support to his programs during his nine-year term which ends on June 30 next year.
“This award is a testimony to the effective partnership that we have created in order to effectively deliver basic services to our people,” Piñol said.
“I am perhaps the happiest employer not because of this award but because I have had the opportunity to work with the best group of employees,” he said.
