Gov. Emmanuel Piñol said he had approved a request by the Provincial Development Council Executive Committee to allocate P2.35 million to buy 12 motorcycles and radios.
He said the motorcycles and radios will be given to a special police anti-crime unit, the Cotabato Crisis Response Group (CCRG).
Piñol said part of the money will also be used for the training of the CCRG members which was organized by the Cotabato Police Provincial Office to be deployed against lawless elements.
He said the new crime unit will run after carnapping gangs and drug dealers who used the national highway for their illegal activities.
PNP director Senior Supt. Federico Dulay, Jr., said the new unit will be activated as soon as the money will be available. He said the training will include counter-terrorism.
