Insp. Elias Dandan, Pikit police chief, identified the victim as Abdul Usman Malikol Ali, assistant principal of Dungguan Elementary School.
The victim was waiting for a passenger jeep at the public terminal when approached by the lone gunman.
Ali was shot at close range with a caliber .45 pistol. He died on the spot, Dandan said.
The incident took place few meters away from the police outpost. The suspect
immediately fled and merged with the marketgoers before members of Pikit PNP arrive at the crime scene.
Dandan said initial investigations showed that personal grudge was behind the killing.
