Town chief of police Insp. Winston Seniel identified the victims as brothers Antonio and Juanito Arnaiz, both residents of Purok 7, Barangay Tibao Mlang, North Cotabato.
Seniel said the duo was on the way to their farm two kilometers away from their residence when waylaid by a dozen unidentified heavily armed men.
The victims died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police investigators recovered from the crime scene empty shells of .45 caliber pistol and several slugs near the bodies of the victims.
Seniel claimed a Moro separatist group operating in Barangay Tibao and Liguasan Marsh could possibly have a hand in the killing.
“But we are still looking for enough evidences to pin them down on this case,” the police official said. (Williamor A. Magbanua/MindaNews)
