Vice Mayor Joselito Piñol disclosed that most of the motorcycles were stolen at the public market parking area.
"We were amazed that in one week's time, four motorcycles were stolen and yet the PNP has not even arrested one suspect," he stressed.
Piñol said the series of motorcycle theft in his town has created a bad image not only to the police force but to local officials as well.
The incident prompted the Sangguniang Bayan to call the attention of the town's chief of police, Insp. Winston Seniel, during its regular session Tuesday last week to explain the matter.
"Our people in the town of Mlang are worried not only about their security but also about the increasing cases of motorcycle theft," Piñol said.
Seniel explained that while they are doing everything to arrest suspects, he also admitted difficulty doing so because no witnesses have so far volunteered information as to the suspects.
He instead appealed to residents to take precautionary measures to prevent motorcycle theft.
In Kidapawan City, seven motorcycles were also stolen last week. Police authorities theorized that the thieves operating in Mlang and Kidapawan belong to the same organized group. Police forces from both areas are planning to conduct joint operations against the criminals.
