The award, although given way too late, was initiated by the NFA’s Technology Resource Development Department that recognizes the efforts of those adhering to warehousing procedures and policies as support to its mandate of food security and stabilization.
The award is also aimed to increase the agency’s productivity through the observance of NFA’s operational efficiency programs all over the country.
The Mlang warehouse apparently impressed NFA officials because of its clean and green surroundings planted with fruit-bearing fruits, ornamental and flowering plants neatly arranged in colorful recycled pots from rubber tires and other junk materials.
Warehouse manager Robelito Campued claimed their operation was based on the 10 fundamental standards on stock quality maintenance and good warehousing practices.
NFA North Cotabato manager Fernando Nuñez said the Mlang warehouse was among the four in the province that landed in the top in the Mindanao area in terms of awards garnered in the previous years.
“Everyday before starting their operational activities, the Mlang warehouse personnel clean their surroundings and help in beautifying the almost three-hectare compound,” Nuñez said. They even reportedly shell out personal money to help un the warehouse’s upkeep.
Campued said it takes a lot of effort, patience and constant communication to impose discipline among the laborers to win their support and cooperation in maintaining orderliness inside the warehouse and in the entire compound.
He said the award encouraged his team to do better for future recognitions.
