Senior Supt. Lexter Camba, provincial police director, identified the two policemen as SPO2 Romulo Eugenio and SPO1 Ramon Vicente, both members of the Kabacan PNP.
Camba said the two were caught while accepting the marked money from the parent of a drug courier identified only by his family name, Aragon, in an undisclosed village in Kabacan.
The Aragon family has reportedly given P40,000 to the policemen as initial payment so that no cases will be filed against the suspected drug pusher caught earlier.
The erring policemen demanded an additional P10,000 and a motorcycle, thus prompting the anti-vice division to conduct an entrapment operation.
The policemen are now detained at the Kidapawan City PNP cell.
Camba said administrative as well extortion charges will be slapped against the two policemen.
In another development, two policemen who are members of the anti-illegal drug division of North Cotabato PNP were also put behind bars after repeatedly failing to appear in court hearings.
PO2 Oliver Gapuz and PO2 Joselex Avena were arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Francis Palmones.
The judge ordered the arrest for them to attend the court hearings for the drug cases filed against Romeo Lu, Baia Lu, Datu Puti Lu and Sabila Lu.
Palmones said several court notices have been sent to the two but still refused appearing in court.
Gapuz and Avena are also now detained at the Kidapawan City PNP cell. A bail bond of P10,000 each is recommended for their temporary liberty. (Williamor A. Magbanua / MindaNews)
