In a press statement, the Herminio Alfonso Command of the NPA’s Front 53 said that death sentence was meted against Albert Senaon, a member of Bagani, a group of armed Lumads organized by the military.
Isabel Santiago, spokesperson of the NPA’s Front 53, said the decision to impose the death sentence on Senaon came after receiving several complaints from the “masses,” or residents, of Barangay Balite, a far-flung village in Magpet in North Cotabato. Balite is reportedly highly influenced by communist rebels.
The victim was watching a cockfight when one of the three suspects shot him dead. Senaon’s younger brother Nono was hit in the chest when he tried to wrestle with one of the suspects. He later died while being treated in a hospital here. (MindaNews)
